Hi Dream Weaver, Welcome to CBF. Perhaps I implied too hastily that many here have "come out" to their pastors... while it is true for some, its probably not true for most. But each person does have a story about how they deal with their Christian Faith and their sexuality. It's summer, we've been offline for quite a while, and this forum is pretty slow-moving compared to GirlChat or BoyChat. So don't despair if you don't get 10 responses right off! :-) How did you decide who to tell and their reaction(s)? I told my closest friends at first. I wanted to deepen my relationships and feel like I was telling the truth. I only told people who seemed open to alternative expressions of sexuality and who knew me to be a good and stable person. What opposition did you encounter from church officals and how did you overcome it and gain their involvement? When I finally told church officials, they had already known me personally and we had a relationship of trust. It was difficult for them to understand, and one of the conditions to me "remaining in good graces" was forming the support group and dealing with some issues in that forum. They became involved because they couldn't ignore this issue. I know others here have different stories. Peace of Christ, Bach |
