Matewan. That's the name of the film. This young man of 14 or so became the pastor of a mountain church in a tiny West Virginia town completely owned by the local coal mine. The coal miners were being treated awfully, and at one point they rose up--when one of their young sons was murdered, i think it was. They went on a strike, and the tyrannical company sent in two professional killers. Well, the young pastor dealt with those men in a way that every young pastor should hear of. See the movie. It's on video all over. Certainly at a good public library. |
