Thanks for your thoughtful reply. There are some similarities there. I didn't even get into the time when the boys parents were separated, had actually forgot about it until I read some of your stuff. I was also told to "back off" by the church, but because they were sure they could provide her with better counsel. In a few months they had labeled her as "beyond hope" and dropped her. I was lucky to have a good relationship with both of them, and had some part in bringing them back together. These days, the dad is as enthusiastic to see me come over as the boys!
