1.)How do you deal with the fact that the Bible teaches that sex should only take place within the marriage relationship? We Lutherans have been having years of problems dealing with questions like this. We haven't found a consensus yet. For one thing, a lot of the Scriptures involved can be interpreted in different ways, some allowing certain forms of homosexuality. I don't think there's enough room here to deal with all of them though. I would say that first, make sure that the translation is accurate, then consider whether the normal Baptist (which you indicate is your background) interpretation fits your understanding of the Scripture involved. I spent my high school years in a Baptist-like church and I was not comfortable with everything on how the pastor insisted on interpreting the Scripture. I did a lot of questioning, so much that now I'm Lutheran. 2.)How do you deal with the fact that the object of your affections is enumerated in the list of sexual don'ts contained in Scripture? By being honest with myself and to those whom I feel able to open up about my boylove. And by exploring the reasons why I love boys in the first place. To quote Socrates, "Know Thyself." Truth and honesty is essential in religion. This is a part of me and to ever deny that wouldn't be honest to me or my relationship with God. If He doesn't want me to love boys the way I do, well I keep giving Him opportunities to come in and change things around. Who knows? Perhaps these erotic feelings without sexual contact with the beloved is what God wants me to be. 3.) How do you deal with the fact that your desires are contrary to His Word and Will? Prayer and silence (regular time for God to come in and change what He wants changed in me.) |
