news about Gideon and a warning

I received an e-mail from Gideon's brother that Gideon had died of a heart attack on Sunday, July 29th. Some may remember Gideon from Jan/Feb this year when he came here and stirred things up a bit, seemingly ridiculing us for who "we" are and then later sharing his own similar experiences. Gideon seemed to be a very spiritual man who knew Scripture very well and had a good relationship with the Lord. I think we might "see" him again someday. My warning is this: I kept in touch with Gideon on and off, mostly discussing world politics... We never got deep into talking about "boylove" issues, but consider this... When Gideon passed away, his brother was able to get into his e-mail a couple days later (that's how his brother found me). What if I had been discussing very personal issues with Gideon? We already know all the stereotypes that people believe about those who have attractions toward boys. Who knows what would've happened then. Even if I hadn't admitted to any illegal activity, someone could've made life very difficult for me. I think it's very important that we be careful who we talk to, how secure our e-mail is, and what we talk about. Not that most of us have anything to hide, but there's a lot of people out there who'd like to make things tough for us. We have no idea where our e-mail may ultimately end up. In my personal e-mail, I get a lot of requests for prayer from people I don't know -- and sometimes they get real specific with their requests, thinking that will help me pray for them better. God doesn't need to know specifics -- He already knows. Play it safe -- this world can be a very cruel place. Splash! |
