Thanks Nate and Splash! I was getting concerned that the discrepency in interest in a grown yf and a grown man of the same age might have its roots in some insidious unconscious desire to control and manipulate a vulnerable youth. But the way you put it makes much better sense. The sense of history and past honesty explains the strength of the relationship with the grown yf. The developed mask and distrust explains well enough the difficulty in relating readily to an unknown grown person. And now for extra marks all we have to do is learn to draw out the vulnerable and caring human being out from an adult we've never met before... :) (quite seriously! At Bible study group there's people (adults my own age) I've never known before, but the more time I spend with them and get to know them, the more I love and appreciate them, even to the point of attraction (even to the girls as well as the guys)) Kind of obvious really, when you think about it, but I guess I never stopped to think about it like that before.
