Listening to God

perhaps one of the greatest claims of the Christian faith is that we can each hear God for ourselves. It's a gift that offer the potential for great effectiveness in serving him, but is obviously open to abuse when people claim to have a 'Word from the Lord' but have got it wrong. And it's not something that comes very easily - it takes time to work, and is best learnt with others along side to encourage the good moments and challenge the mistakes. But it offers a depth of relationship with God that is a great blessing. And sometimes we drift away and stop making the effort to listen for him - and he has to get our attention again. I get the feeling that your trip to this church was such an event - I hope that you will find the space to work at getting back to God... |
