I think that point of view makes best sense to me too, not that I wanted us to be patting each other over back, uncritically praising each others' points of view :) Heather had a phrase she learnt from the Quakers: the Bible is not the "Word of God", it is a witness to the Word of God. It seems to me the view you've taken is the one that frees us to relate to God in the very way described in the Bible. Like Jeremiah says, "no one will tell them 'know God', for they will all know God", and "I will write my Law on their hearts". Fod |
