"Theotikos" would be the adjective form of theotes: "divinity, deity." and I wish I could type in Greek just to impress you and you your pastor. The problem is, I can't find "theotikos" used or further defined in any of my dictionaries. Rather, the word usually used for the adjective is "theios." There is the word "Theotokos" God-bearer, but this is used only in reference to the Virgin Mary.

And as a point of clarification, the controversy wasn't that some pope thought that the Holy Spirit proceeded from the Son, but that he said the Holy Spirit proceeded from both Father and Son, and added the phrase "et Filioque" to the Latin form of the Nicene Creed.

I did a litle research as to why the church split over this issue (among other historical reasons) and I found that it's not as controversial as it was. The Western Church has one opinion and the Orthodox the other, but there is no longer the animosity between them in regards to this issue. All sides feel that there are more important issues keeping the church apart.
