My work is involved with boys along with a ministry that I am a part of, so I would say I have many young friends. My YFs are not ones I see in their homes or care for, but ones I see daily as part of my work. I had a YF three years ago who was a part of my life for four years beginning when he was nine years old. At that time I was a tutor in a program operated at a church and he was one of my students. When the program was over his mother asked me if I could continue tutoring him at my home. I agreed and saw him three days a week for two hours. During that time we became good friends and I sensed a growing attachment towards him. This was not a sexual relationship...just two people many years apart who grew close. His family moved away and I never heard from him again. It has taken a long time to get over the loss. But I know that he is a super kid and is doing well. I hope some day he will contact me, but I know that may never happen. Meanwhile, I continue working with boys who come to me for various problems. My goal is to guide them in ways they can make changes and do better in the lives at home and school. Above all, help lead them closer to God. I have had many successes gauged by the hugs of gratitude and love I receive. Yes I must deal with my own physical attraction to them, which has taken a long time to bring together so that I am not in any way a danger or a threat to them. It is not easy. But each day that I met with success I grew stronger in my determination to honor them. So that's my story. |
