Unfortunately humans don't get this right

which is why there is a need for more than just the simple principle. The chaos of the 60s was a perfect demonstration of this - because they 'loved' one another, the expectation of respecting the biblical tradition of chastity before marriage was increasingly disregarded. This is a 'tradition' that is not easily defended - but is clearly biblical.

The same is true on the biblical prohibition on marriages between Christians and non-Christians - and especially on issues relating to the remarriage of divorcees and the whole gay issue.

But the main reason why this minimal ethical analysis is flawed is that it ignores the central feature of Christianity - which is the death and resurrection of Jesus; 'Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners' - which is about accepting God's forgiveness that we may have fellowship with Him in this world and after our death. This is the unique element of Christianity. If that is what you are dismissing as 'conventional religion' then I strongly suspect you have missed something....
