In my opinion, nothing creates rights. We order our societies in the ways we see fit, politically. Our governements pass laws to grant and deny rights.

It's the outcome I'm concerned about - about the fact that right now in most places in North America and many others places besides, it's common and enirely legal for gay men and women to be fired from their jobs and evicted from their apartments for the sole reason of their sexual orientation.

How do I know you are superstitios? Because you've implied strongly that you are a Christian. If you are not, then stop the games. If you are, then you have to be superstitious. There's no other way for you to support your beliefs.

As to WHY Christian groups try to stop us from enjoying the same rights as anyone else - because they believe it's OK for them to impose their morality on others. One can see the pattern very clearly over the past many centuries. The pattern hasn't changed and I doubt it will - Christians will force their beliefs on others whenever given the opportunity.
