The key point Cat Daddy is that being Gay is not a choice. Why would anyone wish to make a choice which subjects them to so much disaproval and discrimination. Why would teenager choose to become something that leads them into dispair and suicide as they are thrown out of their houses and disowned. If you were given a choice, would you choose to be black in 1985 south Africa or 1948 Alabama? Would you choose to be a Jew or a Gypsy in 1938 Germany? Religion is a choice (perhaps with the exception of being Jewish which is both a religion and an ethincity). You can choose to be a Methodist, a muslum, a baptist, a buhdist or a catholic. You can not choose your sexual orientation. That is determined by a combination of genetics. in-utero environment and perhaps very early childhood expereince. Thus discrimintation against gays is no more justified than discrimination against blacks.
As for the breakdown of the family, the bible says far more about promiscous sex than it does about homosexuality. Wouldn't it be more in keeping with the message of the bible to encourage gays to settle down into stable monogomous relationships (ie families) than to do everything in the govenments power to prevent them from doing so?
