Had the guys in Georgia been in Texas the charge against them would have only been a misdemeanor. However, you can hardly blame the Christians for their conviction and for the convction subsequently being upheld by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court doesn't care about Moral Majority or the Religious Right. The Christians had nothing to do with the Supreme Court decision. The Supreme Court is primarily concerned with determining if the Constitution (and thus individual rights) is being violated or not. In this case it was apparent to them that there was no violation. |
