The United States was founded partially on the principle that minorities be protected from the tyranny of the majority. Protections were put into place to prevent majorities from passing laws to hurt minorities even if the majority thought that was fair. You may think that it's fair to base laws on religious superstitions but that doesn't make it right. BTW, what is the religion of humanism? I am not familiar with any such creed. |
