Its time to start thinking about....Christmas

Ok, so its a bit early to start thinking about what you will be doing this Christmas, however with the holidays only a few months away, it is time to start thinking of those children too poor to enjoy Christmas and what we can do to help them. Its imperative that any good program begin now, not in November. Therefore Im posting this message to remind you all to be active, its not enough to be Christians by going to church every sunday, as Christians we must live a Christian life and that includes helping others.

Here is what I will be doing this christmas, it is simple, effective, and costs very little. Start by finding a group that will help sponsor you at least by backing your project with their name. The most obvious group would be your church. Print out some letters on official church stationary explaining your mission. Then take those letters to the local shopping malls, shopping centers, toy stores etc, and speak with the managers. They will often donate toys themselves, and those who wont will at least sponsor some type of program where customers can help by purchasing toys for your cause. Begin storing these toys for christmas time. Next (or simultaneously, if you can delegate this part to someone else), locate the poor sections of your community (ghettos, housing complexes, etc.) as well as local orphanages, homes for abused and neglected children, etc.. and make a list of all children who would benefit from your program (along with their age). Depending on how much time you dedicated to the program, by November you should have a good amount of toys and you should begin separating them into age-appropriate categories. In the beginning of December, you can begin giving out the toys to the people you put on the list. In the case of poor families, it is recommended you give the toys to the parents so they can give it to their kids according to whatever their tradition is (some give the gifts on Christmas eve, others will leave it till Christmas morning, claiming they are from Santa). In the case of orphanages and other such institutions, you can leave the gifts in charge of the administrators. Depending how much time you give to this project, it can range from something simple to something big. It costs you nothing but time (and gas money) and the rewards are literally out of this world.

I hope this will inspire some of you to take some action and not just live calling yourself a Christian but live a life of servitude to Christ.

love,
kiowas
