3)In that context it is not 'Love' that overcomes, but rather the POWER of God that is victorious. The Power of God is victorious in the loving obedience of Christ for the Sins of the World. Is it the Power of God that allowed Christ to give Himself for the World, or God/Christ's Love for the World? God has the power to both destroy and redeem -- that He chooses mercy is a sign of His Love. I believe that God was able to forgive (and did forgive certain prophets) before the death of Christ.
