| The problem with the claim that as most of us don't offend so can be open about it is the same as the issue with nuclear power stations as against ordinary ones. It is true that nukes are generally safe, but when things do go wrong, they go wrong to a far more serious extent than when an ordinary coal/oil/gas powered one does. So it is with pedos - if we get it wrong and end up in a sexual relationship, then in the public perception (lets not get into a discussion about the truth of this statement) we will cause enormous damage to our 'partner/victim'. Whereas the adult who gets into a consensual sexual relationship with another adult will do relatively less damage. It's all an issue of the perception of risk - and we live in a society that collapses into fear very easily - as the buying of gas masks in response to the bombing reveals. |
