Anyone been in Big Brothers?

Hey, has anyone been in the Big Brothers program? I thought this would be perfect for me. It seems like the best way to channel your feelings in a positive way, right? I'm starting the orientation [edited]. It takes about a month or so to get matched with a little bro. Don't know if I can wait that long, but I've waited this long already. It'll probably be mid December I guess by the time I get matched. I started the program in [edited] when I lived there, but then I moved, so never got the chance to get into it. Just did the criminal record check. I need some references to get started, which won't be a problem, because everyone knows I'm good with kids. There's just one thing I'm worried about... There's an interview process that takes 2 to 3 hours that I have to go through, and I'm worried that the child worker that interviews me will ask me if I've ever felt attracted to boys or something like that. I don't think I could lie, even if I wanted to. ('Thou shalt not bear false witness..') Has anyone ever done this before, or tried, but couldn't due to criminal record? I'm looking forward to taking a little bro everywhere and doing stuff together. The lady on the phone said that they ask for a minimum 1 year committment, and at least 1 quality outing for 2 to 4 hours a week. Shouldn't be a problem :o) Write back with thoughts. - key |
