Temptation or natural desires are EXTERNAL forces that are basically trying to convince you to do something that is wrong. For example, my body may really want to have sex with that woman I just met. As for demonic, the devil tempted Jesus in every way he possible could. This hardly made Jesus impure. In fact, it was an awesome show of his strength and love for God and purity that he rejected these temptations. So, what is desire? Desire means that you want something based on INTERNAL forces. Remember my definition of lust? Lust is simply a desire for sex. The difference? Well, I may be tempted by my body or the devil in my ear to do something wrong, but at the same time I can be morally strong and not do it. If it really was my desire, then I would do it when given the opportunity. However, my thoughts are not ruled by temptation (I hope, I am certainly not perfect in everything) and my true desire is to please God. I understand the difficulty in seperating the two, but it is crucial. Even Jesus was tempted, and it is part of the human experience. Desires, however, are shaped by our priorites and goals. If God is your true priority, will you not desire purity? If you become the priority, then your pleasure will prevail.
