Thank Bach; it's his board. :) But thank you for your kind words.

As I understand it, you're fairly sure that you have free will, but you're doubtful that anyone else does. But surely the rest of us are in the same position as you, of struggling with temptation and either withstanding it or giving in? I agree with you that those who have given in to sin are to be pitied - and I think that the Prodigal Son story shows that the Father doesn't wait for an apology before forgiving the erring child - but forgiveness and mercy are surely different from saying, "You weren't responsible for what you did." That seems to me to be a singularly unmerciful act - to treat another human being as though he were a single-celled animal, unable to make moral decisions.

But I suspect that we could debate this for a long time. :) Welcome to the board; I hope you enjoy it here.
