Re: salvation

"I believe, O Lord, and I confess that Thou art truly the Christ, the Son of the living God, who didst come into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief." This prayer before communion is easy to recite, but I suspect it's only the saints who have begun to allow the meaning of the words to penetrate their hearts. Once someone has seen the goodness and holiness of God, they will be able to truly declare themselves the chief of sinners. Unfortunately, most of us haven't REALLY accepted the gospel message yet. I know that most of the time I consider myself to be a sinner, but still not such a bad guy really. The sins which are most attractive to me happen to be socially acceptable, so my recognition of my need for God and His great love and forgiveness is usually more of a theoretical belief than an experienced reality.
