Like Splash!, what seems to work for me is to keep busy with many things (my job and church activities certainly do that for me).

And like ender said, I don't think it's really any different from what straight people feel when they "fall in love"--it's every bit as much an obsession for them. Of course, people vary in how obsessed they become, regardless of orientation. So a good question is, how do straight people keep themselves from idolizing their significant others?
