Dear Chris,

Thanks for your patience – I wish I had the time to reply to posts every day. You’re very welcome about the information on Sevendust. Indeed, Satan loves to masquerade as God. Don’t know if you’ve seen it, but it reminds me of the movie “Left Behind”, specifically the climax where Carpathia (the Antichrist) is confronting Stonagal and Cothran (the men who maneuvered him into his leadership position within the UN), just before killing them:

The Antichrist will sit in the Temple of God and he will declare to the whole world that he is God.

Carpathia: Upon each of you I grant all the power and authority due to your new positions. You are now kings and queens in your own lands, bringing prosperity and plenty to your people – all in my name.

Stonagal: Nicolae, what are you saying? We never agreed to this.

Carpathia: In the Garden there was a serpent who tempted Eve, leading to man’s banishment from paradise. That serpent has stood between us and paradise ever since.

Cothran: What’s this about, Carpathia?

Carpathia: It’s about you two – serpents in my garden, using unity and prosperity for your own gain.

Stonagal: Nicolae, you know that’s preposterous.

Carpathia: Do not lie to me. So small, so easily manipulated. Tell me, Jonathan, who is the puppet here? Look where I am and look where you are.

Stonagal: Do you have any idea – do you know who you’re dealing with?

Carpathia: Do you?

Carpathia’s words drip with pride, arrogance and irony – Satan is the serpent (Revelation 12:9), the liar (John 8:44) and merely a puppet in God’s hands (2 Samuel 24:1; 1 Chronicles 21:1), unable to act without permission (Job 1:11-12; 2:3-6; Luke 22:31). Being well grounded in the written Word and followers of the living Word is essential for detecting and combating Satan’s numerous temptations, many of which come in the form of a masquerade (cf. Matthew 4:1-11; Luke 4:1-13).

My response to our ongoing discussion on celibacy is in a second post in this same thread.

Love in the Lord,
J
