Buddhism, too, emphasises that it is important not to be ruled by one's attachments. The fact that the word supernatural kept coming to mind may have had something to do with surrendering to something greater than yourself, and your needs. Perhaps the following passage may help provide insight from a different point of view: "Thus, when one becomes highly concentrated, and has skillfully emptied the mind of its attachments, hindrances, and conditioned reasoning and put metta, or loving kindness, in its place, one is increasingly free from the confines of a self-defined and self-limiting experience" I'm not sure that anyone can conquer their attachments fully...so don't feel you have failed if you don't conquer them fully :-) Kind Regards 194............ |
