Hi Tigris, I have had a problem with chronic depression for a long time. It was diagnosed by a doctor who was trying to treat me for another problem which was terrible headaches. He put me on prozac and I took that drug for a couple of years. It did not help me, however, because the depression I had was more of a situational type than chemical. Today I am off the prozac and have not experienced any deep feelings of depression for quite a long time. I guess my best advice for you would be to get more than one proffesional opinion about whatever it is you have going on. Don't just take the first diagnosis as "gospel" truth. And be VERY informed and careful about ANY kind of anti-depression drug that a doctor or shrink might want to prescribe. Some of these drugs not only have strong and adverse side affects but can also create more of a psycological problem than "cure" for you. In other words, be careful all the way around.
