It sounds like things went quite well. I think you're right that he was testing you to see how much he could get away with. The funny thing is that I've found that kids like you more if you set down specific ground rules and hold them to it rather than let them get away with everything. I think it gives them a sense of security. On the sleepover thing, perhaps it would have been better to say that his parents and Uncle didn't know you well enough yet than to say you 2 weren't good enough friends yet. But, hey, you can't always say the perfect thing on the spur of the moment. I think you can build a good relationship with this boy. Dakota |
