. . . I'm doing just that. My YF (I'm going to start calling him Kenny on this board-- "my YF" just seems too impersonal) did something pretty cool today. Something that I see as an another answer to prayer. I have a bunch of little Bibles. The kind that the Gideons give out. He took one for himself, and then asked for another one. I told him he could have another one, but only if he gave it to someone. He kind of rolled his eyes and said he would. I really forgot about me saying that, but he apparently didn't. He told me today that he gave the Bible to someone on the bus. I was blown away. I couldn't believe that he did that! This seems really out of character for him to do that. But, I have been praying for him, and I know that God can change someone's heart. The bus is where he reverts back to his "bad" side. It's pretty cool that he's giving out Bibles there. I told him to take another one and give it out too. He said he would. In fact, we go to a fast food restaurant together once a week and there's a guy there that always takes our order. He recognizes us and usually makes small talk with us. We decided that we were going to take a Bible to him next time we go there. Who knows where that will end up. Whoa . . . God is really answering prayers. As soon as I took myself out of the equation and stopped trying to be Kenny's savior, God was able to take over and start working on him instead. He has gone from claiming that he wasn't even a Christian to giving out Bibles on the school bus. As hard as it was to do, I am telling you that the best thing I ever did was commit to praying for Kenny and then release back to God. It's amazing what's happening, guys. I'm so excited again. Sorry if you're sick of hearing my stories, but this actually helps me more than anyone to post this. I get to see in writing what is happening so I don't forget what God is doing. tigris |
