Dear Flyboy,

Thanks for posting and welcome. I was a BC regular back in 1997-98 and the only reason I don’t post there anymore since returning last November is because it goes way too fast for me to keep up. Even though I’m not gay (I’m exclusively BL), the issue of homosexuality is still very applicable. No, I don’t see homosexuality, either in orientation or in practice, as a sin – though you are probably correct in your assessment that a great deal of the people who post here disagree with that belief.

I don’t believe it is God’s plan for you or anyone else to be celibate. After creating Adam, He saw that it was not good for him to be alone (cf. Genesis 2:18). God is not speaking of mere friendship or companionship, but intimate companionship as Genesis 2:24-25 makes clear. Sexual intimacy was part of the created order and this need for intimate companionship is no different for a gay or BL man than it is for a heterosexual man.

Obviously as a BL, celibacy is a necessity if one is to live freely in our society and I am a committed celibate – but certainly not because somebody’s comes up and says the Bible tells me I have to be. I’d gladly debate anybody here who tried to prove such a position using Scripture. So in answer to your question, yes there are others on this Christian board that are not condemnatory of homosexuality – I am one among them. I hope to see you post more here!

Take care and God bless you,
J
