The word in the Greek is "pais" which was used not merely to refer to a pre-adult male, but to a servant (CF the use of "boy" in reference to male slaves in the antebellum south). There are other words diminutives of "pais" suc as "paidion" which became the basis for the modern Greek "paidi" which means boy or (messenger)boy etc. Then there is paidarion which means "little child" and I better stop for now before I'm disconnected again.
