I was very disappointed with the film, actually

That I'm using this nick is actually an accident. Believe me, the story of why I'm using it is too trivial and boring to interest you. ;-)

I looked forward to the film, but I was extremely disappointed with the poorly researched and even more poorly presented science.

We humans actually stand at the cusp of the creation of artificial intelligence right now. Unless the course of history is altered in the next couple of generations by some sort of catastrophe, I believe that A.I. will become self propogating and self perpetuating within the next 100 years. Certain developments in the field indicate that we may possibly have less time to wait than that.

I think the moral and ethical ramifications could be very serious, indeed, though I also think that it's unlikely that we will take those ramifications to heart before the consequences become evident - whatever the consequences might be.

I looked forward to the film's being an exploration of possible consequences but was disappointed to see it presented as nothing more than cheap and thoughtless pop culture.
