The passage which gets a lot of ink spilt in the discussions about the legitiamcy of gay relationships says: 'Do you not know that the unrighteouss will not inherit the kingdom of God; do not be deceived: neither the immoral, nor idolators. nor adulterers, nor 'sexual perverts' (let's ignore the meaning of that for this thread), nor thieves, nor the greedy, not drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you'. I Cor 9-11b I have to say to the world the message that the bible teaches. Where I don't want to go is to rush into 'imposing' those standards as a part of the rule of the state; we've done that far too often, abolition being the biggest disaster on that issue. But on the other hand we have the right to express our opinion. I don't expect that helps a lot - but it does probably remove some of the difference between Jules and I, who do ultimately believe the same thing although we may differ on the 'mechanics' of the atonement!! |
