Dear Altima,

Thanks for coming out of ‘lurk mode’ to respond! I believe this is the first time we’ve corresponded on this board. Oh, you needn’t worry about diverting slightly off topic onto Haley Joel Osment. Haley Joel RULES!!!!! Oops, did I just say that out loud? Haley Joel RULES!!!!! Oops, I did it again! :-)

Congrats on landing the ‘Twelve Angry Men’ role. Forgive my ignorance, but is that the story about the jury deliberation that begins with an 11 to 1 guilty vote and one person reasons with the other eleven until it’s a unanimous not-guilty vote? Or am I thinking of something totally different?

I think the Flesh Flair has numerous analogous applications, as you stated one of the major ones being the Nazi Holocaust. The major target of that persecution was the Jews, but there were other targets as well – one among them being homosexuals (and by associative extension BL’s). Really, the analogy can be applied to anyone who is persecuted for who they are; what they are being thought of by the persecutor as less than or inferior to themselves.

I like your thoughts on the Pinocchio and unappreciated love angles, however, the more I dig deeper into A.I. the more I’m finding I don’t remember a lot of the details, which is making me want to put off a lot of discussion until it comes out on DVD. For instance, you stated that David’s ‘mommy’ was incapable of showing that she loved him, whereas I feel that she was incapable of loving him at all. I wish that DVD were coming out tomorrow!

I don’t think I’ve ever seen ‘Empire of the Sun’, though now that you’ve extolled some of its virtues, I just may have to go out and get it! Thanks again for your interest in this thread.

Love in the Lord,
J
