Forgiven,
This is a great topic. What I have seen in my life echoes the wisdom of this article. I was touched very little as a child, primarily because I was isolated. My parents did kiss me, but somehow the kisses didn't give the same warm, comforting feeling that a hug does.

In my church we are huggers for sure. Everyone hugs everyone, and at first I felt very uncomfortable with this. I warmed up to it very quickly though, and I so appreciate the warm feeling that comes from it. Moreso, children are taught to be physically affectionate with other church members and visitors alike. Obviously, people are wise about it. They aren't going to send their child into a closet with a stranger to hug....it is done appropriately and in plain site.

I remember when I was first learning the bible with the twins dad, they would hug me when I came into the house. After all, here were the two hottest 12 year old boys in town, hugging ME! Wow, what an impact that made on my heart.

We all might feel a little more loved if we did this. Jesus used TOUCH to heal people as well. Interesting that he chose this rather than waving his hands or mumbling a spell. Interesting too that we have adopted the word TOUCH in sentences such as "TOUCH SOMEONES LIFE" to mean have a positive impact.

You are not alone.

Love,
Ben
