I`m sure that you`ve found already that this is no RDC. :) Rest assured that not everyone buys into the mass hysteria against terrorism. To be sure, terrorism is a terrible thing. The WTC disaster was a terrible act. The world is a frightening place. But God is working through men and women around the world to try and achieve peace. It isn`t easy, some days it looks like we`re going backwards, but human beings around the globe are seeking to live at peace with one another. Am I a coward for not already being out there with the kids at Berkeley protesting this insanity? I don't think so. We each have to work at building peace in our own way. For some it means demonstrations, for others it means changing the way that they relate to their own communities. Maybe we should be protesting on CBF, BC, GC, etc. Maybe the risk is too high? The bad vibes are there... and as I said in my other posts, we need to look beyond our own selves for the power to love those who seem unloveable. How can we hope that love will prevail if it cannot even rule in our own hearts? I think that the real impact of the life of Jesus Christ *is* probably lost on most of humanity. But I also have to believe that with God's help the Holy Spirit can make an impact on our broken world. Because I believe that God loves creation, I must believe that he can redeem us. That we are able to find the strength to go on, and to transform our life today into a happier and more peaceful tommorrow. I'm glad you are around for that difficult journey. Peace, Bach |
