1000 blessings on your uncle! heheh.. (G's, John, yer a space case!...) Yes, as a matter of fact, I did read your post the other day where you were talking about him... I almost responded, in fact, to your comments about growing up in the Vietnam era...something else which we share (:...but had decided at the time that my comments were off-topic and probably a waste of bandwidth.. But since you've mentioned it again (: I was going to post that when we were kids, of course, it wasn't yet being referred to as a "war", but rather, by the euphemism "the fighting in Vietnam" As a young child, with no more to go on that that euphemism, I thought there were a bunch of guys with broken beer bottles and pool cues literally duking it out over there in the jungle... I, also, remember hearing the body count each night... ): I'm so much a product of that era, in fact, A.I., that it, to some extent, complicates my ability to dispassionately assess the situation in which the U.S. is currently engaged... Try as I might to get on board with this thing, every fiber of my little hippie being is against it... And I have tried...if for no other reason than it might help me sleep better at night thinking that, somehow, my country is justified in all that it proposes to do... I fear deeply that I'm running out of arguments to justify it any further.. But...that's a whole other topic (; another 1000 blessings on your uncle and dad! and you, too! (: much love John |
