...that you're right, and that even the NT passages that Ben mentioned have to be re-applied in our own day, to see what sort of equivalent things we might have to condemn today; the answer may not be the same now as it was in Paul's day! It's a question of method, a question of how to apply the bible today, not simply a question of what the bible says. So that's why there are different views amongst christians on such topics. But given that there are different conclusions amongst us, I believe it's time that the whole church found a way of leaving the issue as a matter of conscience. Christians who believe homosexual acts to be sinful, and those who don't, both living and worshipping together, agreeing to disagree. It will be hard work, but it must happen. If it can happen anywhere, I have high hopes that it can happen here! With Christian love, Jules |
