What Jesus, and through him God (according to Christian doctrine) commanded, actually, is that we love one another... I, myself, would interpret the passages you cite as meaning: "Repent (of your failure to love one another as you love yourselves), for the Kingdom of God is at hand" Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching thenm to observe all that I have commanded you.
