Thanks, J. I'd very much enjoy studying Ecclesiastes with you. Though, I've never studied it from a BL perspective before. I have, however, often used one of its verses to speak to my YF when he drifts away from the Lord: "Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment" (Ecclesiastes 11:9). As we're studying, maybe I could share the different thoughts behind each stanza of my Ecclesiastes poem. It's ironic, actually, because it's the first poem I wrote after moving away from my YF and his mother. I was totally heartbroken that I might not see him again. At the time, my life did seem meaningless, and yet Ecclesiastes helped put things into perspective by showing me that everything is meaningless if God's not in it. So then, I reached out to God, and he pulled me up out of the depths. And now I ride on top of the waves. See... |
