that I'm out of my league, in all truth, in discussing Christian dogma... Or, at least, let's say I'm out of my territory in discussing conventional Christian dogma.. I'm afraid the Gnostic variety is the only one I can in any way, truly, realte to.. You guys have that marvelous familiarity that allows you to quote the Bible chapter and verse which, while I might well be able to argue the Gnostic interpretations of various passages, I cannot do so simply for the fact that I don't know the passages or where they are JohnQ...your revelation of your post truly surprised me! Admittedly, I'd gotten that idea regarding the Nag Hammadhi (thank you for the correct spelling!) texts from reading New Age sources more than Christian ones.. So maybe, for now at least, til I myself have a copy of the Nag Hamadhi texts onhand to refer to, I should limit my arguments to Meister Eckhart, a reknowned Christian monk who, although labelled as a heretic in the middle ages, is perhaps the most profound Christian philosopher I've ever read.. I also know that some of his works are available online... love John |
