He just doesn't realize how insulting [his comments] are Yeah - that's definately fair comment; I don't react particularly emotionally to people trying to get at me, and so I tend to forget that others don't have my thick skin. From Ender's Shadow: Bean did not let his fleeting needs and passions control his actions. Did that make him alien? For those of you who've read the book, I find a worryingly large amount of Bean in me (and if you haven't, get 'Ender's Game' first, and then 'Ender's Shadow' - and read probably the best 'Science Fiction' ever written - AND it's about boys :-) I was in Jerusalem recently, and I guess seeing the place where "Muslim" suicide bombers blew up 14 and 15 year olds hasn't improved my attitude to Islam... To repeat what I said earlier: We will be surprised by who gets to heaven, and who doesn't. I have no doubt that many from a non-Christian background who have realised their total dependence on God will be there, and many 'Christians' who slipped into thinking they were doing OK and didn't need God anymore will lose out. I have great hopes that in practice many Muslims will be found to have cast themselves on the mercy of God, and will be found among us on the last day. |
