Hi Splash,
I fully agree with you that Jesus' focus was ALL on faith, and not on performance. I think that this message is central to the gospel, that Jesus gave his life for people who were still sinning. Furthermore, Jesus and God both knew that none of us is perfect enought to NOT sin, once our sins are forgiven.

It really wasn't until Paul's letters that we see some instruction on living Godly lives. Paul saw that people were looking at grace 'cheaply' (a word that we sometimes use in my church). Look at Romans 6 where he said, "1What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?"

This has often gotten me wondering, how much sin is it going to take for me to cross the line? If Jesus is the standard of perfection, and everyone else is on a continuum, where along the continuum are you actually saved? Honestly, I don't have the answer.

You are not alone.

Love,
Ben
