Dear Heather, Thanks for the response - I'd like some time to contemplate your ideas on this matter before responding in any depth. One thing I would like to mention, however, is that I believe you are misunderstanding my model. For example, you state: 'I just don't know how you can determine which centerings are variant enough to be listed in the "sexual expressions" category' and elsewhere you state: 'it's dangerous... creating a single dividing line and then declaring that everything on one side of the line is a sexual orientation'. That which I list under 'sexual expression' are not only those things which society considers 'variant', but everything it does not consider 'variant' - plain old sexual intercourse, felatio, etc. So the average heterosexual male would be 'oriented' towards an adult female and would 'express' this through intercourse. Again, I don't see how my dividing line is dangerous. It simply distinguishes between whom someone is attracted to and how they express that attraction. Hoping these clarification might help resolve some of the problems you have with my model. Look forward to our continuing discussion. Take care and God bless! J |
