where we might differ

let me correct you on just one point -- I am not saying that "because an element of relationship between men and boys is sexual, therefore it is ok for it to be expressed 'in bed'" I don't believe that. My moral views on sexuality are very situational; that is to say, each situation and each sexuality brings with it its own moral questions. I don't believe that one should jump into bed with everyone one meets who turns one on. I don't even believe that when two people turn each other on they should necessarily jump into bed; among other things there are frequently third parties involved (one or both of the people may be in committed relationships).

I am very uncomfortable, however, with rigid rules. (i.e., sex outside a legally recognized marriage is always wrong; sex involving boys below the age of puberty is always wrong -- I cite these two because I believe you hold the first and I held the second until 2 years ago; I could cite others).

Yes, I entirely agree with you that greater openness and understanding about some aspects of sexuality has had a deleterious affect on volunteer activities. It may seem obvious to us that Baden-Powell was sexually attracted to boys but he may never have realized it. If he had, maybe it would have horrified him and we would never had had the boy scouts, not to mention the most attractive boyswear ever devised (short pants and knee socks!)

Cheers!
Curtis
