In the Old Testament - the time of law - God revealed his laws through his prophets in fine detail. The act of sexual intercourse between a man and a woman was designed and blessed by God within marriage. The stories of how imperfect and sinful people behaved when they knew the laws and the consequences revealed that people cannot keep the laws. Fornication, adultery and same-gender relations are spoken about in the scriptures. In the New Testament - a time of grace - God no longer requires all the Judaic rituals but invites people to acknowledge their sin, ask for forgiveness and strength to follow His ways. For me after many years of marriage followed by divorce, I decided to remain celibate until perhaps I might marry again. However the 10 years of sexual molestation that I experienced as a young teen by an adult male in the church, followed by my modelling of his behaviour through my sexual experiences with teen boys while I was in my 20's - came back with such intensity that today I am struggling with powerful desires and fantasies towards teen boys. Last year two teens wanted to have sex with me and I was not strong enough, after 6 years of celibacy I have committed homosexual sin. I have had years of counselling and group therapy but I seem to be sliding down a slope and unable to help myself. I believe that only God through Jesus Christ can change me but it is difficult living with these desires, and knowing that they are sinful but not finding release and healing. Does early sexualization of a boy by a man damage him? I believe after my experience that it can pervert the development of normal sexuality and permanently damage our sexual and personal identity. We are all damaged by sin - ours and others - only the Creator can heal. Regards Big Calv |
