As Genghis said, we are all hypocrites in some way. But don't confuse being hypocritical at times with not trying to follow God. I'm not denying that there are people in churches who are only playing at being Christian, perhaps for appearance sake. But I honestly don't believe this is as widespread as you believe. Everyone has flaws, some more than others. And when we see these flaws, we may think of them as a hypocrite. But if people could see every part of me, they would label me also, as a hypocrite. And the same would hold true for you, or anyone else.

I like the old phrase that says that church is not a sactuary for saints, but a hospital for sinners. And I've heard it said that if you ever find a perfect church, don't attend, because then it wouldn't be perfect anymore. I think the most important thing in a church is not how the people act, or how holy they seem. The most important thing is what is preached and what is believed. You should look for a church that holds similar beliefs to what you in your heart of hearts believe. Not necessarily what is comfortable for you, but what you believe is true. And I also believe it should be a Bible believing and preaching church. Without the Bible, we have no guide except our own wants and desires. There are other things that are important, but this should be the base of a good church.

As far as the hypocrites, well remember that you can't see what's in their hearts like God can. I can guarantee you that there will be at least one hypoctite in every church that I attend. But I'm working on it. :-) And if God can accept me and the other hypocrites, can I do any less?
