Thanks for your question. I joined a church at 13 which was very strict and I believe now was a cult because of its control (spiritual) over people. No contact with the opposite sex was allowed without the permission of the church - and then only chaperoned contact was allowed if you were old enough, were considering marriage and the girl was a solid member of the church. Masturbation was considered a sin and teens were asked to go for counselling if they masturbated. One of the leaders began to molest me at 13 and it continued for nearly 10 years - I was under the control of the church and the influence of this man. Later it was discovered that he molested about 12 teen boys and I was the first. He was an ephebophile. Even 20 years after I left the church I experienced fear of them. When I went back and confronted my abuser and the church leaders - the fear disappeared. Perhaps God planned it that way to release me. I accept that I was responsible for the consequences of my actions at 23 - I have tried to put it in context. I accept the consequences of my body responding to hugs and touch and words of affection. These were given in the name of God and Jesus. It was a time of confusion and I was silent about what was happening. Your point is taken. Kind regards Big Calv |
