I went to my local university's Student Psych Services and (in a private meeting with one of the psychologists) was given a list of psychiatrists who had experience dealing with pedophiles. In my first meeting with a counselor, I was so nervous. I was sweating and could barely look up while I told about my attraction to LGs. But before I told any details, I asked bluntly: "What will you report to the authorities?" I have never touched a child in a bad way, but I wanted to hear her response. Even though she didn't really help me much throughout the months of sessions, it felt good to tell someone face-to-face about my problems and feelings. I wish I could talk to a fellow christian (in person) about my problems, but I did that once and it backfired and they told others. I would definitely suggest you see a psychiatrist for your depression... whether or not you decide to mention your pedophilia. If you are comfortable mentioning it, you may want to ask if they can refer you to someone who has experience in that area. Good luck. Let me know what you decide. -MAA |
