Hi Andrew, I have been involved with both Exodus and Living Waters, which are Christian organisations that help people with sexual dysfunctions. Exodus is for Gay & Lesbian people. Living Waters is for general sexual problems but began as a therapy system for homosexuals, offering individual and group therapy. I was fearful when I began to tell my story to a counsellor who : did not judge me & cared enough to listen with empathy. The documents that were provided before counselling stated that any instances whuch involved a criminal act such as sex with a minor would have to be reported just like a bank robbery etc.. This means that you have to be silent about anything in this category. Also you need to ask many questions and feel comfortable with the counsellor/psychologist/psychiatrist/therapist. Apart from the Catholic confessional and a friend, I don't know anywhere that these incidences can be revealed. Prayer to God is another way. I experienced such a release by confessing my secrets that I had carried for years, that I would recommend that you seek a suitable way to share your problems and difficulties. May God bless you as you seek to grow |
