Andy,

Conviction and condemnation are two different things. We should be convicted of our sins and we should run to the cross. If we are covered by the blood of Christ then we are not condemned for our sin, for there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (romans 8 something or other)

The Holy Spirit convicts us causing us to see our sin and repent. But Satan accuses us to God. He is the accuser of the Brethren and he is wrong to accuse us of sins that Christ has already paid for. It is a fine line we Christians walk. Having to be sorry for our sin until we seek God on the throne of mercy and have the blood applied and then having to lay the sin down and refuse to carry the guilt anymore.
